Altered Portraits

-
The hardest portrait was the first one with the paper balls. this was hard because it was my first picture to ever edit this much to. each were hard but that one especially because the directions were a bit hard to understand.
-
the easiest to create was the flower one because it was just to add her behind the flowers and make she her filter was in a pinky tone to fit the problems
-
Altered portrait for a viewer means that it is probably heavily edited and it isn't "natural". for a photographer is means that were just adding a little pizzaz to make it look more pleasing or just better in general.
-
it is important to learn how to alter portraits because it gives us a different perspective on how to make an image look more interesting.
-
i don't think all portraits should be altered because when something isn't edited, there is beauty in its simplicity and many portraits don't need any editing at all.
-
Altering a portrait it allows me to give it some kind of story. And it can be any kind of story. it just makes it more interesting and fun to look at.
Independent Project 1

Independent project 2

-
i picked to do my project on neon signs. i chose this because it seemed like an interesting thing to shoot.
-
i just took pictures of the signs in different angles to get the images
-
the editing these images needed was to lower the vibrance because i didn't want them to be so bright. i wanted them to be a bit "dull" but not completely.
-
i learned that there wasn't as many neon signs than i thought there was going to be
-
independent project 4
-
I chose to do portraits of Josh as my project 4. i chose to do this because i never really shoot portraits and i wanted to do something different than landscapes.
-
To get these images me and josh went outside and i let him pose however he wanted and thes was the outcome.
-
The editing i had to do for these images was i lowered the brightness and put up the contrast and because it was cloudy outside that day i also kinda put a grey filter on the images to make it look more cloudy.
-
I learned that you need to be more social and know what you want because when you're shooting it can kind of be awkward if you don't know what you want.
-
What i fund difficult about these images was that some came out too dark and trying to put up the brightness was difficult because at a certain point it looked weird.
-
I think these images actually came out pretty good and the only way to make them better was to shoot on a day where it wasn't cloudy.
-
Im still not sure on what i want to do for my next independent project.
Slave Flash project
Project 6

-
I picked to do my project on the little knick knacks my mom has around the house. and i also just took pictures of random things around my house as well.
-
To do the image i just turned off the lights and used the flash as the only light and just took the picture like that.
-
the editing i used for this photos was changing their brightness and contrast while they still had color then
-
i tied them into black and white and again changed the brightness and contrast. they needed this because i didn't like the way they came out the first time they looked too bright.
-
the only thing i found difficult creating this images was trying to focus all the little details on the cups.
-
i think these came out okay and i think they could come out better because I'm so used to doing landscapes and not really focusing on the little things that it was a bit difficult to focus and change everything else.
-
im not too sure about what i want to do for my next project. i have literally no ideas I'm like creatively blokes so we'll both see what happens haha.
Project 7?
-
i picked to do my project on the scenery i see when I'm walking home from school. its just basically signs and the sky and just stuff i see literally as i walk home
-
to get these images i went to my bus stop and walked home like i usually would and shot what i saw.
-
I messed with the brightness and contrast and cropped some because it looked a bit messy with the background
-
i learned that there is a lot of stuff i have never seen in the 2 years of walking to and from the same place.
-
I didn't really find anything difficult about these images.
-
I think these came out okay. i feel like they came out a bit blurry but i dot know if that's just me. i think i could shoot these better know that i know what i was doing.
-
For my next independent project i think I'm going to have a photoshoot wit my little brother because he has been begging me for so long.
Project 8?
-
I picked to do my project on Portraits of my younger brother.
-
To get this image me and my brother went outside and he just started posing how he wanted to and i just shot. I also just took a lot of candid sand that how i got them.
-
The editing i had to do to these images was mess around with the brightness and contrast and i cropped some pictures because it looked like there was too much going on in the background.
-
what i learned about this type of photography is that it's not as hard as i always thought, and thats why i always avoided doing it.
-
What i found difficult about creating these images was the locations and changing of poses because we were limited at the time.
-
Overall i think i did pretty good considering that i never really do this type of photography.
-
For my next project i think i want to do macro just to experience something different that i don't do.
Project 9?
-
i picked to do my project on sunrises from the mornings before school
-
to get these images i would take pictures of the sunrise on my way to the bus stop and i would change the brightness and contrast a bit so it wouldn't be so bright.
-
the editing i had to do to get these images is just really changing the brightness but overall the pictures just came out like this
-
what i learned from doing this photography is that the sunrises can be so beautiful that sometimes they don't even need editing done to them.
-
what i found difficult about taking these pictures is that the sun would sometimes be too bright which would be hard to fix in the fact that i wanted to show all the clouds
-
overall i think i could've done better but they came out good considering i took these on my phone
-
for my next project I'm not really sure what i want to do next.
Project 10?
-
i picked to do my project on kind of like macro but of specifically on the little pink flowers that were growing on the trees in my neighborhood.
-
to get these images i went outside to my neighbors house and took close of pictures of the flowers
-
the editing i had to do was just really just change the brightness and contrast and thats really it.
-
what i learned from doing this type of photography is how to sort of focus on close up things.
-
what i found difficult from doing this type of photography is its hard to focus on really small things
-
overall i think i could've done better because it was blurry in some weird places and i want to see how i can avoid doing that in the future.
-
for my next project i want to take pictures of flowers again because my neighbor has a lot of them in his front yard.
Project 11?
-
i picked to do my project on the sky on my way home from work at The Pit.
-
to get these images i took pictures out of my window while the car was moving.
-
the editing i had to do was again mess the brightness and contrast because it was really cloudy that day.
-
what i learned from doing this photography is how you never pay attention to the scenery when you're in a car.
-
what i found difficult from doing this type of photography is nothing really much to be honest because i do this regularly.
-
Overall i think i could've done better because this project was so rushed and i just needed something for this project.
-
this is my last project of the year sadly to say. i had a lot of fun shooting all these projects.
